Marine Engine Mechanic is a person who installs, repairs and adjusts gasoline/diesel engines and electrical/mechanical equipment in marine vessels. Also dock equipment (e.g. forklifts, cranes, etc.)

Marine Engine Mechanics are part of the broad trade: Small Engine Mechanics and share similar duties. Generally, workers in this group carry out a range of tasks to test, maintain, service and repair engines and motors.
Reading and interpreting drawings, specifications and shop manuals.
Consult with customers to determine problems and also use a range of diagnostic tools and equipment.
Prepare and work from estimates and write up accounts. They must be able to explain to customers what has been done and what other maintenance may be needed.
