Talk with and coordinate building with customers. Log homes represent a significant investment for customers. The demographics of the industry indicate that retired individuals relocating to rural residential settings are the main customers for log homes. This group is discerning and they expect value for their money. You will need to keep your clients informed every step of the way.
Arrange the site plan and foundation work. Log home builders sometimes take on the role of general contractor and contract out the site preparation work to other builders. In other situations the log home builder constructs the foundations and engages in all aspects of building site preparation and layout.
Select logs. Log builders use a peeling deck to prepare logs and it is usually after a log has been prepped that the builder or construction supervisor chooses it. Different structural elements require different types of logs and a log builder relies on expertise to choose the right logs.
