Repair and maintain mobile equipment, such as airplanes and helicopters, industrial and construction vehicles (such as bulldozers or mining trucks) and heavy-duty equipment used in construction, forestry, material handling, landscaping and land clearing, and repair and maintenance of railway cars.
Troubleshoot structural, mechanical or hydraulic systems to identify problems. Must be able to repair and overhaul equipment systems according to manufacturers' specifications and established procedures.
Test repaired equipment for proper performance, cleaning and lubricating equipment, and other routine maintenance work. Railway carworkers are also responsible for the interior of cars, which includes repairing and repainting wooden fixtures and repairing damaged windows and upholstery.
