Construction Formwork Technician

A Construction Formwork Technician is a person who builds footing, column and wall forms, suspended slab forms and slab-on-grade forms and concrete stair forms, and uses specialized forming methods for all types of civil, commercial, industrial, institutional, and residential construction and renovation. The Formwork Technician uses materials, hardware, and knowledge of concrete and pre-stressed concrete to construct concrete forms. This includes installing anchor bolts and metal in concrete. The Formwork Technician constructs forms for all types of concrete buildings and structures.

Reading blueprints to develop a materials list and cutting schedule that makes the best use of lumber.

Using hand and power tools to cut and shape wood after making careful measurements.

Framing for wood frame houses and low-rise apartments.

Manufacture wooden assemblies, such as roofing trusses and beams, that will be installed on the job site by other workers.

Work to standards outlined in provincial and national building codes, understand these standards and stay current with changes to building codes.
